Y4 Home Learning

2nd December 2020

Dear parents/carers,

Unfortunately, we have had a positive case of COVID-19 within our year 4 bubble. Therefore, children and staff will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

We still expect children to be completing work at home in order to not have an unexpected gap in their learning. Therefore, we will be setting work that should last around 4 hours per day.

  • 1 hour of literacy (including reading and spellings)
  • 1 hour of maths
  • 2 hours of extra curriculum (science, PSHE, geography, history, art and PE)

Literacy

We will be completing our learning following the Oak Academy learning programme, the following link will take you to a series of lessons. There are 15 lessons in total, 1 lesson to be completed each day.

Reading

We expect children to be reading a book at home for at least 20 minutes per day.

If your child has to miss any schooling through prolonged illness or through self-isolation, it is important that they are able to keep their skills sharp and not miss out on moving their learning forward.  On the year group page are lots of ways in which your child can continue to keep in touch with the learning taking place within the classroom; reading, spelling and maths.

Alongside this we have provided this link to the Oak Academy website where pupils can further practise their key skills in Maths and English.  Teaching videos and short sharp tasks will guide your child through the chosen objectives.  Unfortunately, we are unable to access the system to check on the progress of your child but would love you to email us with feedback and photos of the learning taking place.  Do please keep in contact with your child's teacher.

At Intake School, we follow the White Rose Maths Scheme.  To keep up with what we are doing in school, follow this link to the current weeks daily lessons.
