If your child has to miss any schooling though prolonged illness or through self-isolation, it is important that they are able to keep their skills sharp and not miss out on moving their learning forward. On the year group page there are lots of ways in which your child can continue to keep in touch with the learning taking place within the classroom:- reading, spelling and maths.
Alongside this we have provided this link to the Oak Academy website where pupils can further practise their key skills in Maths and English in line with what is happening in the classroom environment. Teaching videos and short sharp tasks will guide your child through the chosen objectives.

Spring Term 1 - Demon Dentist by David Walliams
A series of 5 reading lessons focusing on retrieval, analysing different characters and author's use of language types of questions.
(Please note these sessions if done correctly should last 2 weeks alongside the weekly spelling and reading)
In addition to this, your child also has their weekly spellings to learn and their home school reading book, which when they've completed it they can do either a book review about or a recommend poster aimed at another child in Year 5 suggesting reasons why they might want to read it as well as briefly explaining what it is about. If your child doesn't have the weekly spellings to learn, please email one of the Year 5 team and we will send them to you.
