Reading
Our school reading scheme books are to be taken home and brought into school alongside their reading diary every day. Children should hand in their reading diary on a Monday and Friday for checking on progress towards the whole school challenge. We ask that children read at least 3 times a week and that these are recorded in their diary. Every time your child reads 3 times they will get moved along our reading wall.
Oxford Owl
Your child can also access online books using the following link if they have finished their scheme book or need further reading practise.
Simply follow the link: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/
Then go to MY CLASS LOGIN
The login is:

They have a wide range of books to choose from and you can filter the results to match the required book band or age. There is also an option for audio books, and a section that gives tips and resources to support learning at home. If you have any questions please see your class teacher for more information.
Spellings
Children are also set weekly spellings which they are expected to practise at home. These are handed out on a Friday afternoon and they are then tested on these the following Friday.
Maths
Homework books will be handed out at the start of September. 1 page of these will be set weekly which will relate to what we are doing in class at that time. These will then be marked in class. If your child is struggling with a particular topic, they may bring in their books and the teacher will help them with it at lunchtime.
Times Tables Rock Stars
Additionally, we also encourage children to regularly use Times Tables Rock Stars. It is vitally important that children have a sound knowledge of their times tables as they will use these in all areas of their maths. Times Tables Rock Stars allows them to learn these and improve their recall in a fun and interactive way. Even just playing for 5 minutes a day will greatly improve their speed and knowledge. Throughout the year your child will be set different challenges to complete. If you have any issues getting logged on please let us know.
We appreciate your continued support and encouragement with your child’s home learning.
