Y6 Homework Books

Homework books which support the work in class are given to the pupils in September.  Pages will be set on a weekly basis and home learning marked within their maths class. If pupils are struggling with a topic, please email or ask the child to let us know and we will provide additional lunchtime help to go over any of these areas  Alternatively you can access teaching videos for each White Rose maths sessions free at home.

Times Table Rock Stars

It is so important every child knows their times tables and can recall them at speed.  Times tables feed into many other areas of Maths we cover in Year 6.  Times Table Rock Stars is a fun way to practice and improve recall and speed of all their times tables and each child has an individual login.  We will be setting challenges and tasks on this platform throughout the year.  Regular practice on this is highly recommended.

Spelling

Each Monday, the children will be given 5 new spellings to learn.  These word are taken from the Y3/4 and Y5/6 spelling words as well as key words from our half term learning.  They will look at them each day and work on patterns and sounds.  They will take home their list of words for each half term and we encourage you to work on these too to embed learning.

Each week, 5 words will be selected to focus on each day within class.  All 30 words will be looked at over the half term.
