MATHS
In Year 4, our Maths homework is a page a week from the Year 4 Maths Practice Questions. The pages we'd like your child to work on are linked to the learning they do in class, which follows the White Rose Maths year 4 scheme. Each page should take no longer than 10 minutes.
Each half term, the pages we'd like Year 4 children to focus on are listed on the half termly newsletter.
If they are struggling with any of the questions, please let us know either by seeing us in the yard, your child telling us or by emailing a member of the Year 4 team.
READING
As a school, we encourage children to read at least 3 times a week. Reading diaries are collected in every Friday and children are rewarded with house points depending on how frequently they read. Each half term, the Y4 children take part in a reading challenge to see if they can read 3 times a week each week for the half term.

There is a wide range of books for the children to select and enjoy reading. All of which are suitable for their reading age and ability.

SPELLING
Every week the Year 4s are given 10 new spelling words to learn. They will look at spelling patterns, such as different prefixes and suffixes, as well as homophones and challenge words. The weekly spelling test is on a Friday.
