Intake Primary School

At Intake School we recognise the importance of being able to recall times tables fluently in relation to the wider areas of  mathematics.  

The DfE states, ''Having a secure grasp of the basics of maths, including the fluent recall of times tables is crucial for children's success in moving on to more complex maths.'  

We have embedded many opportunities both within and outside of our maths lessons where pupils get the opportunity to practice and to set personal targets in fun and rewarding ways.

Every child from entering the school has a Numbots and Times Table Rockstar login which is demonstrated and celebrated within school (with a dedicated celebration slot in the Monday whole school assembly) and encouraged to be accessed at home with weekly challenges.   Some other examples of increasing fluency used at Intake School are: we hold an annual Times Table Rock Star day, have personal sticker reward charts from Y2, build in daily counting/chanting/games and complete Big Maths 'Learn It's' timed challenges in each year group.
