March 2023

For World Book Day 2023, Y6 carefully selected books suitable for a Y2 audience and practiced their reading aloud skills.  They then read them to the Y2’s and presented each child with a homemade bookmark gift.

We used the book, ‘The Best Kept Secret’ by Sophie Stewart for our inspiration and was lucky enough to receive a personalised copy from the author herself.  She also sent us the ebook to share in class and recorded a message to us telling us about about the history behind the setting and characters and offered to answer any questions we have for her.  We have sent her a long list and are awaiting a reply – she has promised to send us another video to answer them all.

January 2023

We were delighted to welcome Rock Kidz Uk for the 1st time to start our year off with a bang!  We linked this with our RockStar day and the week (along with the musical instrument themed holiday homework) brought together Maths, Music, PSHE, PE, DT, Art and Science!!  We all had workshops and then came togethe at the end of the day for a celebration assembly where our Resilience Song - 'Don't Quit, Never Give Up' was performed.

We were super excited to welcome into our whole school assembly, 'The Sheffield Chinese Lion Dancing Team' to celebrate the Chinese New Year (the year of the rabbit).  It was a real treat and very loud!!!  They kindly gave us some fortune cookies for pupils in return for any donations.  We managed to raise an impressive £154.84 for school funds.  Thank you.

Our School Council have launched the reading in the wider school community book trolley project.  They have collected and sorted books, built trolleys and advertised these to the whole school community.  Please visit them on a Friday morning or after school to choose a free book! Donations at any time welcome to keep the scheme running successfully.
