Learning Difficulties

A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things throughout their life.  A learning disability is different for everyone.  Not two people are the same.

When concerns are rasied by parents or teachers we initially put support in class to try and help the child with their area of need.  If we do not feel this is having the impact required, then with the agreement of parents, we will make a referral to our Learning Support Teacher (Zoe Wilson).  Zoe is also a Lead SENCo in Sheffield so is extremely knowledgeable.

Following the referral and assessment will be completed with your child and a report will be produced.  The report will be shared with staff and parents, the SENCo will then compile an action plan.  The plan will include classroom support as well as any relevant interventions the children could access.

This will be reviewed three times a year on the Personal Profile.

For children who are working below the expected standard the Birmingham Toolkit may be used to identify particular gaps in learning and next steps.
